Get the full pastrami experience at Mamma Pastrama, a new all-day pastrami sandwich joint that’s opening in Carnaby on September 16. ‘Million Pound Menu’ winner chef Jay Morjaria and Vagabond co-founders Stephen Finch and Kieran Sherlock are the brains behind this operation.
They claim to have a modern take on the classic American sarnie. The secret? Morjaria’s closely guarded curing process, which uses a blend of spices and a unique rub technique that guarantees generously seasoned rosy slices of cured meats flecked with flavoursome strips of fat.
Mamma Pastrama will serve classic towering rye bread sandwiches, stuffed with hand-carved melt-on-the-tongue meat, sauerkraut, the proper dressing and a giant pickle to cut through everything, alongside some unconventional sandwich options such as the Big Mamma Melt, a smoked chicken, bacon and house pastrami stack, sourdough pastrami kimchi toasties and a beet reuben.
If that's not enough, there are plenty of pastrami sides to go round, such as pastrami popcorn, smoked pastrami sausage with curry ketchup and pastrami burnt ends. Wash it all down with a range of craft beers, soft drinks or coffee.
