It’s officially January, which means for many Londoners, it’s officially no-drinking month. I’m not here to argue with you, I salute you. But for everyone else out there – and for those who are up for a spot of sober raving – it’s time to fill the floor and dance away the January gloom. If you’re unsure where to head, check out our pick of the best nights happening in the capital this week: we’ve got cult club nights, top-of-the-game producers and up-and-coming DJs, all to help you scratch your going-out itch.
I Feel Love
New Year’s Eve might be over, but the fun doesn’t have to finish. The glitter, glam and gut-wrenching singalongs don’t have to finish either. The iconic disco party brand I Feel Love has rescheduled its November Bussey Building event to this Saturday at Jamm, so get down to Brixton for a night of indulgence and head-spinning disco classics from the usual suspects: Chaka Khan, Chic, Donna Summer, Heaven and Earth... we’re looking at you guys.
Brixton Jamm, SW9 6LH. Sat Jan 8, 10pm-4am. £10.
Saoirse all night long

Saoirse has been on the radar as one to watch for quite some time. But now, she’s not so much on the radar, she’s blown up the radar entirely. Known for her high-energy mixes fizzing with pulsating beats and foot-stomping surprise drops, she started out spinning records on pirate radio stations before holding a monthly show on Rinse FM and becoming a Radio 1 resident. There’s all of that and then there’s the fact that Saoirse also helped to programme Body Movements festival last year, cementing her as one of the city’s most exciting electronic music tastemakers. This Friday she’ll be kicking off Phonox’s Friday residency slot for the whole of January – so if you can’t manage this week, make sure you pencil in an appointment for a future boogie.
Phonox, SW9 7AY. Fri Jan 7, 9.30pm-4am. From £10.
Alien Communications

Bee bee beep boop. Beep boop beep. That’s the sort of stuff you’ll be hearing down the pub on Friday night, with Alien Communications bringing the avant-garde robotic sounds of Adam Pits to one of London’s finest late-night boozers. Adam Pits, a rising-star producer who’s tracks have been played by some of the UK underground’s biggest names, including Call Super and Peach, will be kicking off the label’s six-month residency at the Lion and Lamb. Yep: that means there’ll be plenty more bleeps to come.
Adam Pits, Bays b2b Jos. The Lion & Lamb, N1 6LG. Fri Jan 2, 6pm-2am. From £10.
Crossbreed
If you've not yet experienced a Crossbreed party, add it to your list of New Years resolutions, now. These sex-positive, body-positive nights operate with a strict no-dickhead policy, welcoming queerness, kink, and self-expression. They also play some pretty banging tunes, with resident Kiwi spinning the sort of gold that will easily help you get off your arse and sweat out your Sunday hangover. They also offer a 'pay-it-forward campaign', where guests can purchase tickets on behalf of those on a lower income, who are invited to apply for free tickets.
Kiwi, special guest TBA. fabric, EC1m 6HJ. Sun 9 Jan, 4pm-midnight. £20 tickets.
Session Victim

It's hard to know where to start with Session Victim, the legendary German house DJ duo who'll be taking over Jazz Cafe for an anticipated winter residency. With a focus on catchy melodic samples, dusky piano chords and chilled-out beats, these guys have a house music discography that breathes old school hedonism, but not in a cheesy way. Their mixes are known for being super high energy and a bit relentless when it comes to giving you a boogie break, and are strictly wax only. Vinyl-heads: there'll be no CDJs in sight.
Session Victim, Baltra, Aqwea. Jazz Cafe, NW1 7PG. Fri Jan 7, 10.30pm-3am. Tickets £15.
