Awards season is well underway, and now it’s London’s turn to host music industry royalty as the BRITs rolls round once again. This year has seen an exceptionally wide range of nominees – including The Beatles, Chappell Roan, KSI and The Cure – up for awards, with Charli xcx leading with five nominations, including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for her culture-shifting record Brat.
How are winners decided? A BRITs voting academy, made up of around 1,200 experts from the media, decides the shortlist for each category. The genre awards – such as Best R&B and Best Rock – are fan voted; the Producer, Songwriter and Rising Star awards are decided by an expert panel, while the winners of the remaining categories are decided by the voting academy.
Last year, previous Time Out cover star Raye made history by winning six BRIT awards. So what will 2025 bring? A few awards have been announced ahead of the ceremony: Myles Smith has taken home the Rising Star Award, while Charli xcx won Songwriter of the Year and A.G. Cook, credited with producing Brat, was crowned Producer of the Year.
And the remaining categories? Hold tight. We’re reporting live from the 2025 annual BRIT Awards ceremony at London’s O2 Arena, hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall. We’ll be updating this page live with the winners of the awards as they are announced, so be sure to check back for more news throughout the night.
