London travel disruption this weekend: full list of tube and train closures for March 14-16

It’s St Patrick’s Day weekend! And you know what that means? Staying out and about in London from noon and into the early hours of the morning, of course. 

If that’s your plan for St Paddy’s, you should make yourself familiar with all the tube and travel disruptions happening over the weekend so that your plans don’t get thrown out of whack and you get back home in one piece. And if you’ve got a quieter few days lined up, the travel info is still worth knowing about.  

So, as always, we’re on hand to break down all the closures and disruptions that TfL and National Rail have scheduled for this weekend.

London Underground 

Central line

There are no Central line services between Leytonstone and Epping/ Hainault on either Saturday or Sunday. Replacement buses will be operating instead. 

Piccadilly line

There’s no planned timetable changes on the Piccadilly line this weekend, however for the Arsenal v Chelsea match on Sunday, Holloway Road station will be closed between 11.30am and 1.45pm and again from 3.10pm to 4.40pm.

Waterloo and City line

There’s no service on the Waterloo and City line on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays. 

Other TfL services

DLR

No DLR trains between Canary Wharf and Stratford on Saturday or Sunday. 

Elizabeth line 

On Sunday from 12.40am to 7.40am there are no Elizabeth line trains between between Paddington and Ealing Broadway.  The final service on Sunday morning at 12.07am will only run from Heathrow Terminal 5 to Ealing Broadway. 

Then from 7.45am until 1pm there’s no service between Abbey Wood/ Stratford and Paddington and reduced service from Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 4/ Maidenhead.

Overground

Windrush line

From Friday night through to Sunday, no Windrush trains are travelling between Highbury and Islington and New Cross/ Clapham Junction/ Battersea Park/ New Cross Gate. 

A special Windrush service is operating on Saturday between London Bridge and West Croydon. There will be replacement buses available through the day but TfL says at night you should use London buses and Night Tube instead. 

Lioness line

From 8.30pm on Sunday, there will be no services on the Lioness line between Kilburn High Road and Euston. TfL says you can use local buses or Underground services instead. 

Mildmay line

Also on Sunday, there will be no Mildmay services between Camden Road and Stratford from 10.15pm. You’ll be able to hop on replacement bus service S between Camden Road and Stratford via Holloway Road (for London Underground), Highbury & Islington (for Caledonian Road & Barnsbury), Canonbury, Dalston Junction (for Dalston Kingsland), Hackney Central, Homerton and Hackney Wick.

National Rail 

Stansted Express 

You won’t be able to get the Stansted Express from London Liverpool Street to the airport on Saturday, March 15 or Sunday, March 16 due to scheduled engineering work. You can take a rail replacement bus or a National Express coach instead.
