At the beginning of the month, the UK saw the hottest start to any May on record, with temperatures in London soaring to a scorching 29.3C. While the city isn’t expected to get quite that hot again any time soon, we are in for another mini heatwave to round off the end of the month.
So, make the most of it! After several wet, windy and chilly days for the capital, here’s exactly when you look forward to some glorious sunshine.

Why is London going to experience a heatwave?
The Met Office says that heatwaves happen when slow-moving high pressure develops above an area, trapping warm air and pushing temperatures above what is average for the season and the area.
Forecasters have said that a jet stream is arriving above the UK from the Caribbean at the end of this week, which will cause high pressure and a rise in temperature.
When is London going to experience the heatwave?
We’ll get a short hot spell from Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31.
Looking a little further ahead, BBC Weather predicts that there will be another mini-heatwave from June 7-9.
How hot will it get?
The average temp for London in May is around 19 degrees celsius and for June is 22 degrees, but according to the Met Office, the city will bask in temperatures up to 25 degrees on Friday and Saturday.
Ways to cool off in London during a heatwave
London is awash with lidos and open-air pools that are perfect for a cool down. There are also loads of beautiful beer gardens where you can hydrate with a nice cold pint, lots of shaded woodlands to wander through and plenty of big, air-conditioned attractions, like the Tate Modern and British Museum, if you want to get out of the sun completely.
