Bonne Route

Good bars come in all shapes and sizes – and that’s proven by Time Out’s newly updated guide to London’s best places to drink. All bars in our top 50 list are fun, friendly, convivial and inclusive with delicious drinks menus and interiors that make them look the part. But each has its own distinct vibe, ranging from dive bars in Deptford to artsy listening bars in Islington

So, whatever sort of ambience or tipple you’re after, there is guaranteed to be a brilliant bar in London for you. And if you want chic without pretence, wander down a pedestrian walkway near Harringay station to a ‘tiny but cool pocket’ of Quernmore Road. There you’ll find Bonne Route, Time Out’s best wine bar for 2026.

Bonne Route opened in N4 in late 2024. Small and candlelit, Time Out writer Liv Kelly wrote that it has ‘an atmosphere that’s more cosy than snooty’. There are a few small outdoor tables but to really get the best out of this place, you should arrive after sundown and pull up a stool at one of the twinkling tables inside.

The menu here is all natural wines, plus a few timeless cocktails and some Bonne Route specials like the pickle martini and the ‘Caught in the Rain’ (fig leaf gin with pineapple, sherry and lime). Liv suggests you order ‘whatever French orange wine is on the menu’. As for food, you have a choice of things like burrata with hazelnut dukkah, grilled salmon with mayo and candied jalapenos, a cheese plate or an ice cream sandwich. Liv highly recommends the pickled olives.

Other wine bars that made it onto our list include the Parisian-style Lower Wine Bar in Waterloo, the ever-so-romantic Godet in Canonbury and the dinky Half Cut Market in Holloway.
