Saoirse Ronan to star as Lady Macbeth at the Almeida Theatre

Nature is indeed healing as we’re finally getting juicy new celebrity stage announcements for London’s theatres.

To cut to the chase, the Guardian reports today – presumably in advance of an official announcement later this morning – that INTERNATIONAL FILM STAR Saoirse Ronan will be making her London theatre debut in a new, more feminist version of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ from gloriously intense South African theatre director Yaël Farber.

Dubbed ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’, this new version will run at the Almeida Theatre from September, and will seek to provide a more equal portrait of the Macbeths than the original, in which Lady Macbeth kind of pops up memorably every now and again to lead Macbeth astray. The wondrous James McArdle – ‘The James Plays’, ‘Angels in America’, loads of good stuff, plus he starred in ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ with Ronan – will play Macbeth.

We’ll update you later this morning with precise information about when you can buy tickets to ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’, but clearly it's going to be a popular one.
